Hubby and Hee Hee | 2003

Hubby & Hee Hee was a collaborative evening between Bettina Hubby and Joel Mesler, of the LA gallery, DiannePruess (later PruessPress, Rental, and now Untitled Gallery in New York). Hubby's part of the show featured 28 artists/friends donning garments she made for this sculptural 'runway' show. Following the final parade, after the 'bride' (Janet Klein) walked down the aisle, LA art photographer Joshua White took individual portraits of each participant. Mesler hooked up artist Charles Irvin to perform a nude break-dancing act. Hubby's mother still talks about it. Documentation of the evening now serves as a glimpse of the budding Chinatown art community in the early 00’s.
