Hubby IV | 2004

In 2004 Hubby asked a few dozen friends from the Chinatown art community to give her an item of their clothing to work on. She spent the next couple of months transforming these pieces that were later returned as a gift to the lenderr. In exchange they were asked to sit for their portrait wearing the pieces. The set was created by then gallerist Dan Hug and photographed by art photographer Joshua White. Each item was reworked in a way that was suited to the owner’s persona. The pictures were exhibited at the Mountain Bar in Chinatown and participants were invited to come and receive their clothing, wear them at the opening, and take them home afterwards. Participants included: Rachel Allen, Elizabeth Anderson, Steven L. Anderson, Skip Arnold, Gary Cannone, Gerald Davis, Dave Deany, Jacques De Beaufort, Mari Eastman, Karl Hugo Erikson, Tony Fernández, Seth Geller, Karin Gulbran, Steve Hanson, Evan Holloway, Daniel Hug, Charles Barlow Irvin, Alice Könitz, Gretchen Larsen, Jonathan “Jonny” David Lieberman, Sabina McGrew, Thomas William Mckenzie, Joel Mesler, Jill Newman, Clancy Pearson, Jennifer Rochlin, Joe Sola, Frances Stark, Arlo Stark-Hanson, Mary Weatherford.
